FAQ

Tour Length:

Each tour is designed to be 1 1/2 hours long but can run up to 2 hours. Due to the size of the group, things that can happen that we have no control over… this is New Orleans, after all!

We Only Offer Walking Tours:

Each tour is approximately 1 mile long. Walking is at a leisurely pace, periods standing while the tour guide is telling a story. Comfy shoes are a must.

Most tours are wheelchair accessible, as we will be on the sidewalk. (Mind you, New Orleans sidewalks, at times, can jump up and bite you!) St. Louis Cemetery #1 is not generally wheelchair-friendly, but we can discuss accommodations. (The cemetery has some narrow areas, and the ground is uneven.)

Our Guides:

All of our guides are licensed by the City of New Orleans. They have all passed a federal background check and a New Orleans history test to receive their license. Because we believe in giving high-quality tours, we screen and test all of our guides on our own, as well. You will be guided by the best in the business!

Tour Meet-up:

Tour meet-up locations and vary to fit in with the theme of each tour. Please take note of the meet-up location of your tour (you will receive the location and directions via email and can contact us at any time for help.) Check-in is 15 minutes before the start of the tour. All tours start on time! (Which is very unlike most things in NOLA!)

Your guide will text you before your tour to make it easier for you to find them. Please enter your cell phone number when purchasing tickets so we can text you. (Our tour guides do not hold up signs, but they will be easy to find.)

Reservations:

Book your tour ahead of time. Bookings are available up to 2 hours before the tour. Unlike many tour companies, we like to give intimate tours and limit our tours to 15 people. Therefore, they sometimes book out quickly- so try to book early! If there is a booked-out tour you are interested in, contact us, and we can help make other arrangements.

Walk-ups are accepted, but please call the office (at 504-777-7769) first to see if we have room is available. We can only accept cash for walk-ups.

Minimum Bookings:

A minimum of 2 people booked is required before the tour will go out. If only 1 person has signed up for a tour, we will cancel the tour and issue a refund. Or, if you wish to reschedule your tour, contact us, and we can help.

Weather:

You can never predict the weather in New Orleans (trust us, it bothers us too, sometimes!) Tours will go on rain or shine. In the case of extreme weather (i.e., hurricanes or tornadoes), we will notify you as soon as the office is made aware and will be issued a refund or an offer to take the tour at another time, if possible.

It’s always a good idea to have umbrellas in New Orleans for both the rain and the sun. Water is essential for warm weather!. Wear clothing suited to the season. NOTE: Cemeteries are often hotter than it is in other places in the city!

Going Into Locations:

We do not enter locations except for bathroom breaks. Most stops are private locations, but we will describe all of the history and stories about the location. You’ll still be delighted!

End of Tour, Gratuities:

Tours do generally not end where they start. Your guide will help you to your next destination (and don’t be afraid to ask what to do next- our city is full of exciting things for all types!) Gratuities are not included in your price of a ticket. If you have enjoyed your tour, please tip your guide (though it is not required).
